BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.
The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury's lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. In the process, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

People realize this isn't a documentary right? No feature film recreating events of the past is. It's an interpretation. Lawrence of Arabia. Beautiful Minds. Braveheart. Ghandi. All take liberties and shouldn't be judged simply because of things they left out or condensed. If you want a documentary, go rent that.

Honestly, these differences are so minor and non-essential that it hardly matters. I think Rami Malek did such a great job, and the producers of the movie also did well to condense such a huge career into a 2 hour something movie.

I would have loved to see what Sacha Baron Cohen could have brought to the table with his character and the writing for this film. Too many fingers in the pie from the rest of the band to paraphrase his words and it was something that automatically put me off in getting behind this film when he left the project.

    The movie was okay...
but they butchered these easy facts that they could've put in.... its not like they did some radical changes that made it so hollywood... i disliked how they changed how Freddie and Jim met, and how they did not show any of the struggles of Freddie's health in his final months.. how they hid him from the media, etc...how the band was with him.... AIDs was obviously a big part of his life and it seems as though the movie just shows small glimpses...

It was ok but lots of misinformation was included. Such as making Mercury the polarising element of the band when it was actually May and Taylor that were the main song writers and therefore caused the most trouble in the band. In fact Mercury was probably the mediator if anything. The other main gripe for me is the excessive focus on Mercury in the movie, I thought I was supposed to be watching a Queen biopic.

If there going to make a film about the life of someone then I think it is absolutely right to get all facts 100%!!!
And the little changes they made is just wrong? As it's like saying I have blonde hair when I have ginger/brown hair and I'm 4ft when in fact I'm 6ft?
If I was the family of freddy or one of the band members, producer or even the director I wouldn't be happy if these changes were made!!!

Amazing Film. Great to see the Golden Globe win last night. The critiques of movie do not seem significant. The changes make sense given the time limitations of a movie. However, the portrayal of his love ones and those around him did not seem realistic given the fear of people with AIDS. It must have effected Freddie a great deal like everyone else with AIDS at that time. Maybe this was changed because of the creators shame to reveal the true or embarrassment of others? I would like to know the true story of the impact on Freddie and to remember those men who suffered on so many levels. We don’t want to forget significant moments in history because we will repeat them.

All the events in the film did happen in the lives of the Queen band members, specifically Freddie... to some degree or other. I kinda liked how they interwove these major points into the overall gist of the story... and doing justice to the soul that was Freddie. I thought it was necessary to fudge the timeline, in parts, just to keep the story moving. After all, it is a monumental task to squeeze so much of the Queen story into 2 hrs 15 mins. I was not disappointed with Bohemian Rhapsody and I am waiting (impatiently) for the DVD release in Feb 2019. :)

He wasn't as flamboyant off stage, and he certainly didn't walk around looking like a rabbit. He was much more self-conscious of his teeth, and would hide his overbite during interviews.

Also one of the things that are really changed is the gig Freddie is watching with Mary when she is telling him that she feels thats something going on.. the song they are watching (Love of my life) is supposed to be from the concert in Houston Texas in 1977 and it actually is. The song we hear though is from Rock in Rio Festival in 1985, even months after the Live Aid.

Too bad they didn't give a true historical look at Freddie Mercury. Today's youth will only watch the movie and then argue it as fact.
The movie basically is word for word with what Wikipedia says about Freddie Mercury. At least Wikipedia has links to further information the movie chose to leave out.
Also, changing the dates of his diagnosis to fit the live aid narrative in the movie is terrible. They should have put more focus on how Queen took the show.
Makes me wonder now what was the deal with Queen signing on to live aid late. Did that even happen?
This movie was good. But learning that the facts are altered for entertainment purposes really pisses me off.
